Last year, China's electrolytic aluminum production saved 1.4 billion kilowatt hours of electricity

Recently, the third council of the third session of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association was held in Beijing. Vice President Jia Mingxing pointed out at the meeting that last year, China's non-ferrous metals industry maintained stable and healthy operation, made breakthroughs in technological innovation, and achieved significant energy-saving and emission reduction results in electrolytic aluminum production. The electricity consumption index reached the world's advanced level, and a total of 1.4 billion kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity were saved throughout the year.

Jia Mingxing introduced that due to the widespread promotion of energy-saving technology for electrolytic aluminum, the average comprehensive AC power consumption of aluminum ingots in the entire industry decreased to 13844 kWh/ton in 2012, a decrease of 69 kWh/ton compared to the previous year, equivalent to a reduction of 63 kilograms in carbon dioxide emissions per ton of aluminum. In addition, the structure of China's non-ferrous metal industry was optimized last year, with mining and smelting enterprises experiencing a significant decrease in profits, while material processing enterprises achieved a profit of 75.4 billion yuan, an increase. In the growth of fixed assets investment, mine projects increased by 13.4%, material processing projects increased by 44.6%, and smelting projects decreased by 5%. This "two increases and one decrease" indicates that the industrial investment structure is becoming reasonable. Chen Quanxun, President of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, stated that this year, we will continue to focus on the theme of green development, vigorously promote scientific and technological progress, exchange and cooperation, promote industrial transformation and upgrading, and achieve sustained and healthy development of the non-ferrous metals industry.
